Carbonyx is developing a process that combines captured CO₂ with industrial waste to produce advanced materials. NorthX says the new funding will support demonstration units in British Columbia, where the company can validate its process, capture carbon dioxide, and divert concrete waste from landfill. The investment follows earlier NorthX support for Carbonyx’s transition from a lab-scale prototype toward commercially relevant production.

Insporos Technologies is applying AI-powered, non-destructive analysis to seed quality and disease risk. Instead of destroying samples during testing, its approach is designed to help growers and seed companies identify problems before planting. The funding will support field evidence—an essential bridge between a promising analytical tool and adoption in real agricultural systems.

PermaC Land & Environment Inc. is focused on thawing permafrost, a problem that threatens northern infrastructure and can release additional greenhouse gases as frozen ground destabilizes. NorthX funding will help the company generate performance data for its ground-stabilization technology and support deployment in Arctic communities.

Seafoam Materials is developing carbon-storing building materials made from seaweed and upcycled waste. Its portion of the program will support pilot manufacturing, moving the company closer to producing lower-carbon construction materials at useful volume. The investment is a reminder that material innovation must solve two challenges at once: environmental performance and manufacturability.

NorthX designed the initiative to combine non-dilutive funding with the market access, technical validation, visibility, and industry connections founders need to move beyond a prototype.

“If we want to turn that innovation into companies that scale and create economic value here at home, we need to make sure founders have access to the early capital and commercialization support to prove their technologies and reach the market,” NorthX President and CEO Sarah Goodman said in the announcement.

NorthX reports that, since its founding, it has committed more than $36 million across 45 projects at companies with women in leadership. That represents more than 58% of the organization’s total capital commitments to date, according to NorthX. It also reports that those companies have unlocked over $430 million in additional capital—nearly $12 for each NorthX dollar committed.
