Carbon Compared publishes a free comparison of carbon credit projects for buyers who want to see the options before they spend money. Adam Rasmussen Arda started it after he was asked to source high-quality credits for an employer's climate plan and found the voluntary market hard to judge. Carbon Compared Limited was incorporated in the United Kingdom on 23 April 2024. The public site went live in 2025. The company is based in London, and the contact published on the site is adam@carboncompared.com.
The comparison is a table. A visitor can filter by project sector, location, and credit type, and can choose which columns to show. Columns include the developer, the methodology, the project group and type, whether the credit is a removal or an avoidance, location, vintage, and price per tonne. Rating columns come from BeZero Carbon, Calyx Global, and MSCI. Accreditation, extra certifications, UN Sustainable Development Goals, and whether credits are already issued or still pre-issuance are on the table too. Developer names, ratings, and prices stay hidden until the visitor enters an email address.
Projects on the table include direct air capture, biochar, enhanced rock weathering, bioenergy with carbon capture, and other biomass storage, plus at least one household energy-efficiency avoidance project. Named developers on the public page include Climeworks, Charm Industrial, Octavia Carbon, and Carboneers. Standards and registries referenced include Puro.earth, Isometric, Verra, Capchar, and Global C-Sink. A separate form asks how many credits a buyer wants. Carbon Compared says developers then send quotes, at no charge to the buyer, and that a buyer can also book a free call.
Key benefits
The numbers in one table
Project type, place, vintage, price, registry, and outside ratings sit in columns a buyer can sort and filter.
Ratings from other firms
BeZero Carbon, Calyx Global, and MSCI supply the rating columns. Carbon Compared links each firm's disclaimer.
Quotes sent to the buyer
The request form collects how many credits a buyer wants. The company says developers reply with quotes, and that this costs the buyer nothing.
Carbon Compared sits between a buyer and the projects. The removal or the avoided emission happens at the project, under whatever standard that project uses. The company's role is to put methodology, place, vintage, price, and outside ratings in one table, and to pass a buyer's requirements to developers for a quote.
A comparison table can matter for a smaller company that will not hire a carbon broker. The table itself does not retire a tonne of CO2. The climate result depends on the project the buyer chooses, on whether that project delivers what its methodology claims, and on whether the buyer treats the credit as a last step after cutting its own emissions. BeZero, Calyx Global, and MSCI each rate projects under their own methods, and Carbon Compared links each firm's disclaimer from the table.
