In a fashion industry built on shortcuts, KENT has taken the harder road on purpose.

Founded by Stacy Grace, KENT is a super natural basics brand focused on one simple but radical idea, underwear and essentials should be made entirely without plastic.

No spandex. No polyester. No hidden synthetics.

Just organic, plant based materials that are healthier for people and capable of returning to the earth at the end of their life.

While many brands claim sustainability, KENT operates with a stricter definition.

Every product is designed from fabric to thread to elastic using 100 percent natural materials, with the explicit goal of creating basics that can be composted instead of sitting in landfills for centuries.

Below is a closer look at the brand’s origin, mission, and standards, told directly through our conversation with founder and CEO Stacy Grace.

The Lightbulb Moment Behind KENT

KENT did not begin with a single insight, but two very clear realizations that exposed a major gap in the market.

The first came from Stacy’s work in sustainable fashion.

Even brands positioned as eco friendly were still relying on synthetic fibers made from petrochemicals.

These materials are harmful to the planet, questionable for bodily health, and nearly impossible to break down once discarded.

The second moment was personal.

While trying to get pregnant, Stacy’s husband was advised by his doctor to wear loose fitting, 100 percent cotton briefs.

When they went looking for options, they found nothing that felt well made, thoughtfully designed, or truly natural.

Rather than compromise, they built what they could not find.

KENT was created to design plastic out of underwear entirely, while still delivering comfort, performance, and timeless design.

Mission and Vision, Super Natural by Design

KENT’s mission is straightforward and ambitious.

To save the earth, one super natural basic at a time.

The brand is built around regenerative thinking, products that do more good rather than simply less harm. Sustainability is not treated as a marketing layer but as the foundation of every decision, from material sourcing to manufacturing partners.

KENT focuses its efforts where impact is greatest, across products, people, and planet. That means natural materials, ethical production, and full transparency throughout the supply chain.

Super Natural Materials Standards

One of the most important insights behind KENT is where fashion’s damage actually occurs.

Nearly 75 percent of the negative environmental impact in fashion happens at the raw materials stage. Fiber choices affect water use, chemical exposure, washing behavior, and what happens when a garment reaches the end of its life.

In response, KENT created its own Super Natural Materials Standards.

These standards evaluate every material against strict social and environmental criteria before it is approved for use.

Only materials that are 100 percent natural, plant based, and organic make the cut, and only if they have the potential to return to nature as a resource.

Most underwear brands, even those using organic cotton, still rely on synthetic blends like spandex or polyester.

Those materials can sit in landfills for up to 200 years.

KENT refuses to accept that tradeoff.

Environmental and Human Impact

By eliminating plastic fibers entirely, KENT reduces long term waste, lowers microplastic pollution, and avoids petrochemical dependency in one of the most intimate product categories people wear every day.

The impact goes beyond environmental benefits. Natural materials are gentler on skin, breathable, and aligned with basic health considerations, especially in garments worn for long periods.

This combination of health, durability, and end of life responsibility is what defines KENT’s approach to impact.

Business Model and Growth Approach

KENT currently operates as a direct to consumer brand, supported by a small number of select wholesale partners.

This model allows the company to maintain control over quality, storytelling, and customer education, all of which matter when challenging industry norms.

The company has been primarily bootstrapped, with a small amount of angel investment supporting early growth.

This funding approach has allowed KENT to stay disciplined, values led, and focused on product integrity rather than speed at any cost.

Tools Powering the Brand

Like many modern consumer brands, KENT relies on a focused and practical tool stack:

The emphasis is on simplicity, reliability, and tools that support direct relationships with customers.
