Mastercard Impact Fund is the charitable fund Mastercard established in 2018 with an initial $500 million commitment following U.S. tax reform. It finances philanthropic programs that advance inclusive growth. The Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth describes and helps activate the portfolio, but the Center is the company's social-impact hub and thought-leadership platform; it is not an interchangeable legal or canonical name for the Fund.
The current official Fund page reports $432 million “at work” in 104 countries. That is an organization-reported deployment description, not current AUM, independently audited beneficiary impact or proof that the full original commitment has been disbursed as grants. The portfolio works through large nonprofit, research, financial-inclusion and implementation partners on financial health, small-business resilience, data and technology for good and economic mobility.
The Fund does not present a general public grant application or a broadly applicable cheque range. Programs such as Mastercard Strive are delivered through selected global and regional partners and may create downstream opportunities for small businesses or local organizations, but participation in those programs is not the same as receiving a direct Impact Fund grant. This profile therefore leaves application and cheque fields empty.
Mastercard Impact Fund backs partnerships that can use finance, technology, data and networks to expand inclusive economic participation. Its portfolio centers on financial health, resilient small businesses and technology or data applied to public benefit, often through intermediaries capable of operating across markets.
The model is strategic philanthropy, not an open venture fund. Corporate commitment, Fund deployment, partner subgrants, commercial Mastercard activity and the Center's research outputs must be tracked separately. Public scale metrics are organization-reported unless a named independent evaluation supports an outcome claim.

Focus geography
Global. The official Fund page reports activity in 104 countries, while individual partnerships define their own eligible markets and participants.
Focus sectors
Financial health and inclusion, small-business resilience, economic mobility, data science and technology for good, and ecosystem capacity for inclusive growth.
Funder structure
Mastercard-established charitable impact fund launched in 2018. The Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth convenes, communicates and helps execute impact work, but the Fund, Center and Mastercard's commercial operations remain distinct.
Eligibility
No universal direct-grantee criteria or public form is posted. Direct partners tend to be established nonprofits, research institutions and intermediaries with thematic expertise, controls and multi-market delivery capacity.
Decision process
Partnerships appear strategically sourced and program-specific. The Fund does not publish a general proposal calendar, standard cheque size or promise that unsolicited requests will be reviewed.
Impact approach
Uses philanthropic capital alongside Mastercard's data, technology and convening reach. “$432 million at work” is a Fund-reported deployment statement; downstream reach and outcome claims require program-specific evidence.
Reporting expectations
Selected partners should expect financial controls, milestones, market-level outputs and outcome measurement appropriate to multi-party programs, plus safeguards for data use and vulnerable participants.
Geographic restrictions
The 104-country footprint is historical/current portfolio reach, not automatic eligibility in every country. Each partnership is limited by geography, regulation, sanctions and delivery partners.
Alternatives and limitations
Small businesses generally access partner programs rather than direct grants. Organizations seeking open calls should monitor implementing partners or use funders with published RFPs; Center research participation is not Fund financing.
